Topic: Clinical and imaging diagnosis of carotid blowout syndrome

Abstract

The prevalence of head and neck cancers (HNC) is high in East Asia. Aggressive treatment techniques, including radiotherapy, can complicated with carotid blowout syndrome (CBS). CBS is a life-threatening condition which shows dynamic clinical and imaging features during treatment of HNC. Early treatment of CBS has associated with better outcome than delayed treatment. So how to have an early diagnosis of CBS is of paramount importance to improve the patient’s survival.
